Sometimes engaging in regular exercise can be a bit tricky: It requires finding a balance between challenging yourself and preserving yourself. Well, this week, I think I goofed a bit, and now my lower back is pissed at me.
I flipped through my weekly training charts on dailymile and realized that last week showed quite a jump in miles and frequency in exercise. Then I started this week off by running on Monday and Tuesday and spinning on Wednesday. The Group Cycle class at Gold's is a great class: great cardio, motivating instructor, muscle-building etc. But, I've not done this class in a while and probably pushed it a bit too much.
So, today I had to skip running and am cursing myself. When will I learn? I need to sit properly in my desk chair, I need to stretch, and I need to stop sleeping on my stomach. Consider the redemption process initiated. To be a good girl, I fear I'll have to skip tomorrow's scheduled long run of 6-7 and try to do on Monday instead.
Soon I'll be leaving to go pick Owen up from school early and drag him to ANOTHER orthodontist appointment. It's been 2 weeks since all of his gadgetry was installed, and the Dr. needs to check that we've been doing our key-turning properly. I'm guessing they'll discover that we have pretty quickly: Owen already has a small and growing gap between his two front teeth. We might also be getting the rubber bands put on today: These bands will restrict the forward growth of his lower jaw, thus reducing his "underbite."
More stressful to me, however, is the amount of homework Owen has this evening, somehow fitting around orthodontist and Tae Kwon Do. The spelling checks are killing us because Owen does not remember these words without us practicing them with him every night, and then he sometimes still gets them wrong.
On a positive note, Owen has been amusing us with his creative writing assignments. This one came home yesterday.
"What will the world be like when I am 100? Well let me get started with the cars. The cars are much better. Every car comes with two jet boosters. Now that's fast! Now if something starts to break just spray some oxiternal and poof it's fixed! It works even on toys. I work for oxiternal. That's what it's like when I am 100."
